Welcome to The Selva Mia Foundation

The primary focus of The Selva Mia Foundation is to provide funding and direction for the many needs of the Amazon region. By creating a group of supporting organizations engaged in intent- specific functions, it will generate long term sustainability.

Each organization will experience individual start-up and transitionary phases in support of the overall goals of the Foundation. As the focal point for each supporting organization comes into alignment with it’s individual function, its goals and orientation will address … the forest, wildlife and water; the regional civic well-being; the homeless and jobless population; and the rescue and education of the children.

The future caretakers of our Mother.

These supporting organizations will additionally serve to provide much needed influx of local commerce and industry, which will in turn support the overall health of the region and it’s indigenous peoples.

The Forest, Wildlife and Water;

The Amazon rainforest is comprised of at least four canopies of trees, plus understory shrubs, bushes, flowering plants, orchids, mosses and ferns. It is a diverse and fragile web that supports and feeds thousands of species of birds, animals, insects and indigenous peoples. Unsustainable exploration of resources (logging, mining, drilling, agri-business) is striking at the heart of this web of life by removing the biggest trees, polluting the rivers and displacing communities. Anything that is useful to single-industry big businesses is seen as exploitable resource.
There are two types of available land.

Partially Denuded Land.

Replanted into forest gardens using sustainable native fruit trees, including Mango, Papaya, Camu Camu, Chirimoyas, Cacao (chocolate) and many more, and grown sustainably and in a diverse rainforest environment (in sharp contrast to environmentally disastrous crops such as Soya and cattle), provides not only profit crops for responsible civic participation, but ensures the continued life of an intact forest.

Land in Areas of High Bio-diversity.

These areas can be regarded as living seed banks and lifeboats for many species of flora and fauna. Logging interest has already destroyed thousand of acres. However, protecting these special areas with a view to long-term regional integrity, they can later be encouraged to grow again once the loggers, miners and mono-culture farmers have left. Currently we are looking at land bordering the world famous Manu Biosphere Reserve.

In addition to plant crops, The Foundation will raise local edible fish species, for the purposes of conservation and future re-stocking of rivers and lakes, as well as for food. Aquatic species such as Peacock Bass, Gamitana, Arawana, and the Paiche, all of which are in decline due to pollution and commercial fishing, will be preserved and maintained and will stock the several lakes surrounding the Foundation‘s Center.

Regional Civic Organization and Well-being;

There are currently more than 300,000 people living in the area. This city is located in the northeast corner of the country right near the Amazon river. There are no roads in or out. There is, however, one airport and several river ways. The town has a high rate of poverty and most live a day to day lifestyle. There is a highway that goes back 90 kilometers and ends into a Natural Reserve.
The Selva Mia Foundation has been approached to buy 900 acres inside the Reserve. However, the site we are looking at is 9 kilometers outside the city and about a ¼ mile from the highway. The compound we are considering purchasing is priced at $100K, but could be obtained for $50K.
A central building will be erected that will house a kitchen, a meeting room and lounge, movie room and a place to get internet, and could be finished for under $10K. Houses cost $5000.00. Huts are $500 to build, however others will be erected that are slightly better detailed for $1K. Fifty of the smaller huts and perhaps 3 or 4 larger ones will be erected around the lake. The property will be off-grid, self sufficient and green as soon possible. The food will be fresh, locally grown and 100% natural.

Homeless and Jobless Population;

Within the framework and activities of the Foundation, the local population would be assured work and security by virtue of the slow elimination of commercial, single-purpose industry which currently exploits the resources of the region and causes devalue of the land. Work of all kinds will become available in the form of construction, laying down of roadways, managing the plantings and stock, within the Wellness Center and so forth.

Rescue and Education of the Children.

The Foundation will make primary the liberation of tens thousand homeless children that wander the streets. These children are the future guardians to the earth. Educated to understand the beauty and value of their native home and the preservation of it, they will be the defenders this land for future generations.

Foundation Wellness Center

The Selva Mia Foundation will maintain the largest and most comprehensive Wellness Center in the world. Self contained, every healing modality and methodology known to mankind will be housed in state of the art, eco-friendly facilities. Healing environments of every complexity, from the weekend get-away for massage and relaxation to intensive cancer treatment and ongoing reparative regimens, will be meticulously apportioned. The Wellness Center will also provide conference facilities, meditation centers and yoga studios. Set in the magical and exotic tropical environment of the Amazon, and bordering the world famous Manu Biosphere Reserve, accommodations for 50-100 guests will be world-class, and will maintain constant attention to innovative environments and therapies. There will be a dining center featuring the indigenous abundance and variety of foods, lakes for swimming and hiking tours to encourage common tourism.

Additional functions of The Wellness Center will be to use profits, together with private donations, to buy select plots of land to be used in eco-reserve and eco-education centers for the local communities, in an effort to make the forest and the region valuable intact, and to dissuade local landholders from selling off their interest to logging. Many locals have bought into expensive loans that they cannot repay. These reserves and education centers will be provided to local residents for little to no money on an 99-year lease arrangement, in an effort against ongoing undermining of civic integrity and exploit.
